YES-Kids Will Finish their Mexican Bark Painting

The YES-Kids are working on a project called, Faux Mexican Bark Painting. We use brown paper bags instead of real tree bark, of course. They drew their Mexican designs, then outlined them with Sharpies. Then they proceeded to crumple and smooth the paper at least three times. They really got a kick from doing that! After having the papers ironed flat, but still wrinkled, they started painting them with Acrylic paints. The bright colors and varied designs will give a striking finish to this project. They are very excited to work on them on Tuesday and Wednesday. If you check back to YEStudio In Action next week, around Thursday, you will be able to see the finished art!

After the Mexican Bark Painting is finished, they will start on their 'sculpture' project! It is going to be an awesome one this time. They will be kept in the dark about it until it starts. They all enjoy a surprise!

Be sure to check out the gallery at YEStudio.org for pictures of the Spring Trees (watercolor) and the Sunflowers (pastels).
