Here's the YES-Kids' Mexicn Faux Bark Paintings

Here they are! The Mexican Faux Bark Paintings! They are all so unique and different; so brightly colored. What a good job they did on these. The YES-Kids are always excited to do a new project.

They had so much fun with this project. First, they got to draw and then Sharpie over the Mexican birds, flowers, borders and decorative touches. Then they wadded up their 'bark', straightened it out and did it again twice more. The 'bark' was wrinkled nicely. I then ironed it to flatten it out. Still wrinkled, it gave the look of tree bark.

They used Acrylic paints to give their drawings an even more authentic Mexican flair. When the paint was dry, they put white acrylic dots in strategic places on the painting. What a great result!

These and more will be available in a few days, at www.yestudio.org Just click on the gallery button at the top of the home page.

There was a little time left, so the students began drawing the template for their Acrylic Kinetic Mobile. We have two more weeks in this session. They will be working on the mobiles during the last two weeks. These mobiles will be our sculpture project for this session. They will be made of Dura-lar and will float on the air to the slightest breeze while hanging from a base. Sound interesting? Be sure to check back here often for updates.  ;-)
