This last Sunday, at Pearson Springs Park, in Maryville, the second annual Kite Festival, Art in the Sky, was held.
Three of our YES-Kids painted kites and entered them in the competition. Nicole Butcher and Kassidi McDannel painted their designs on tyvek kites. Nicole painted a beautiful scene of the ocean, a palm tree and the setting sun fading into the horizon line. (picture later) Such good work! Kassidi painted a Giraffe on her kite. Ashley Butcher decorated a paper kite like a mermaid. They were great! Kassidi won a blue ribbon, (first prize), with her giraffe, for Creative Design and for flight. Ashley won third in Creative Design for her Mermaid Kite. They all three had a very good time at the festival. Here are some pictures of the girls doing their designs and displaying them.
We hope to see lots more of the Youthful Expressions Studio students at next year's festival. It's an opportunity for fun and creative, artistic expression.
The Kite Festival was a huge success. It was very colorful and festive with all kinds of kites. Expert kite fliers gave demos and enormous kites were on site. To see more pictures of the festival, please go to www.fineartsblount.com and enjoy.
What a great time!! Hard work, but really fun! I am so proud of our YES-Kids!!
ReplyDeleteIt was very rewarding to have our students do so well and have such a good time! Well worth the work, for sure.

Late commenting on the kite fest, but it looks AWESOME! Wish I could've been there to see all the kids and colors and sunshine--if I had been there I would have told you all to go fly a kite! :) VERY cool giraffe and mermaid, YESsters! Keep up the high-flying artwork! Love to all--
