A Wonderful New Work of Art from Cindy!

I am excited to show you Cindy's latest acrylic painting. It is "Hydrangea Dreams" and is one of her best to date! It is my personal favorite for sure. It hangs in the ArtSpace Gallery at FAB. You can visit the gallery at: www.fineartsblount.com. Or stop by the gallery. It's at 106 E. Broadway, Maryville, TN.

I do love Hydrangeas. There was always a lovely hydrangea bush at my Grandma Mary Maud Purdy's house, right out front by the sidewalk. It was there as long as I can remember. It likely still blooms every summer. It is mostly blue, but sometimes shows some pink.

Grandma's house became our family home when she passed. Mom and Dad raised my brother and sister there and it was the scene of many family gatherings over the years. It has since been sold when Mom decided to move to TN in 2002. Before we left, we cut some lovely blooms from the hydrangea bush and dried them. That beautiful bouquet has graced our living room in the years since. They do dry wonderfully!

Cindy has made a practice of drawing/painting our family flowers, usually from my photos. I am a photographer and have taken countless photos in the family garden and yard. Cindy has used her talent in pen and ink stippling to present the flowers at their best, colorizing them in pastel and acrylic. She has done Dad's prize sunflower, Mom's bright red poppy, and now her own acrylic rendition, no stippling, of the hydrangea! We have another one of Cindy's works of art to anticipate. She is already planning her next one!

So you could say that most of Cindy's flower paintings are family heirlooms! They are labors of love and respect for our treasured ones! Grandma, Mom, and Dad, were gardeners not only from necessity, but also because they loved it. Cindy and I have tried to preserve their wonderful work in the garden using our different mediums in art.

I just want to share with you, her latest Acrylic on Canvas of the beautiful "Hydrangea Dreams". Enjoy! Please feel free to comment. :-)

  1. Every time I see this, I am amazed! "Hydrangea Dreams" is Cindy's best work to date! All her work is outstanding, but this is just extraordinary--the detail, the rendering of an actual hydrangea, but with a dreaminess, too. Oh, suddenly the name "Hydrangea Dreams" makes sense to me! Just incredible, Cin... I love gazing at it. And it makes me homesick for all those incredible flowers back home that we grew up with and that Mary Jane photographed so beautifully... excellent work, both of you! :)
